Miss Carolanne

Carolanne, a Canadian Citizen, was born in Ohsweken, Ontario in 1958.
Carolanne grew up with 7 siblings and her parents, living in Detroit briefly and Lowbanks near Dunnville from age 12. She attended Senior Public School, presently known as Thompson Creek Elementary and Dunnville Secondary School. In 1976, Carolanne received her Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
Carolanne received her diploma of Early Childhood Education (E.C.E.) from Niagara College of Applied Arts & Technology in Welland, Ontario. In 1980, Carolanne was employed at Six Nations Daycare Centre as an E.C.E. teacher.
Deciding to venture out in the field, 1983 was the year that Carolanne opened Little Peoples Academy Daycare Centre. The Centre’s first facility operated from the basement of the Lutheran Church located on the Highway #3 in East Dunnville. The Centre was licenced for 16 pre-school children. Little Peoples Academy was the very first licenced Daycare Centre, with this capacity, in Dunnville.
Since then, the Centre has grown, and changed location. In 1985, Carolanne and her husband Bruce Lovegrove purchased a home at 254 Robinson Rd. in Dunnville. The downstairs of this raised ranch home was quickly renovated into a daycare centre. As the business grew, so did the need for additional space. An addition was added to the existing building in 1990, permitting a licenced capacity increase to 32 children.
Presently, the Centre operates at the same address, as a stand-alone Centre (the building is entirely for the daycare), with a licenced capacity of 53 children, ranging from infants to 12 years of age. Carolanne has been the sole operator/supervisor since 1983.
In 2002, Carolanne attended teachers college, through Brock University. She graduated and received her 'Certificate in Education' on October 16, 2004.
Carolanne continues to participate in professional development regularly. Other experiences with children include: Cub Scout Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Educational Assistant and Tutor Escort. In 2010, Carolanne was certified as an ordained Minister of the Gospel, through 'Power of the Cross Ministries'.
The philosophy and mission of Little People’s Academy is a true reflection of its proud Director’s passion for children, family values, and Christianity.
