OUR PHILOSOPHY
Little People’s Academy exists to provide loving care with a Christian emphasis. Believing that children learn through play, we provide an opportunity for them to develop socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually. We respect all children as individuals, encouraging them and empowering them to laugh, learn and play together in a safe place.
We endeavor to provide a high quality child care environment that is set up to be enjoyable, resourceful, and meaningful. Our daily program encourages growth while providing a service to the families of our community.
Our program is filled with lessons that the children can apply in their own life experiences inside and outside of the teaching facility. We incorporate the Creative Curriculum learning approach at Little People’s Academy which allows children to learn in a hands-on environment involving interest centres such as sensory bin, table toys, library books, blocks, dramatic play, creative/arts and crafts and music and movement.
Little People's Academy also applies Theme Based learning. Teachers plan activities and themes in advance and the children learn about these themes during a specified time period. This model is designed on the concept that children learn things based on what they already know, linking new learning to old.
Building up self-esteem, believing in the children’s dreams, building on the children’s strengths, working on their weaknesses, cheering them on towards their personal aspirations is the fuel that will drive the children to higher heights. You cannot give that which you do not possess ~ the teachers that are put in place need to have a healthy self-esteem, a love for education, a passion to teach, and a compassion for people. Teachers need to be willing to continue to study and to be life-long learners.
Our teachers are dedicated to have a passion to teach, be responsible, sincere and professional in all that they do and say.
In summary, effective teaching requires:
effective teachers,
time,
wisdom,
knowledge,
commitment,
dedication,
teamwork,
and life-long learners.
